[Tube Drawing Process]

Tube drawing process can be divided into sinking, plug drawing and mandrel drawing. Since the inner wall of a tube isn't supported in sinking process, the wall's thickness is not reduced a lot but the inside isn't uniform. Also, since shear deformation is huge in the front and exit of a die, the deformation limit would be lower than other processes. If drawing it by using plug, inner/outer diameter of a tube is well-controlled. Plug determines the shape of internal part. If a long mandrel is used in drawing, friction can be significantly reduced. It inserts a strong and long rod or mandrel in a tube and draws with a tube. If such a moving mandrel is used, drawing force is reduced due to pulling on the front and the reduced friction on tube-mandrel interface.
